Who we are
recited.co.uk is operated by OPTA GROUP LTD ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 08887435, registered office Gatcombe House, Copnor Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire, United Kingdom, PO3 5EJ. You can reach us through our contact form.
What the service does
We ask ChatGPT and Google AI Mode the questions a customer might ask when looking for a local business — "best plumber in Chichester" and the like — and record which businesses each AI names. We repeat those questions over time and report how often each business comes up, who comes up instead, and which websites the AI cited.
That is a measurement service. It is not advertising, and it is not a way to be placed in an AI's answers.
What we can't promise
This matters more than anything else here, so it's in plain words:
- We cannot get you recommended by AI. ChatGPT and Google decide what they say. Nobody can buy a place in their answers, ourselves included.
- AI answers change constantly. The same question asked twice can give different businesses. Our percentages describe what we saw across many checks in a period; they are not a ranking, and they are not a prediction.
- Suggestions are suggestions. Where we point out something the businesses AI recommends have in common, or a website it cites that doesn't list you, that's an observation about correlation. Acting on it may change nothing.
- The underlying services can change. If an AI changes how it answers, stops being available to us, or blocks automated questions, what we can measure changes with it.
Accuracy
We take care to record answers faithfully and to match named businesses to the right records, but we can't promise the data is complete or error-free. Business details come from public sources and may be out of date. If something about your business is wrong, tell us and we'll correct it.
Free checks
Anyone can run a free check. The page it produces has a private link; anyone with that link can see it, so treat it as you would any link you'd rather not post publicly. We may change or withdraw the free service at any time.
Recited Premium
- Price. £10 a month or £99 a year, as shown when you subscribe. Prices include VAT where it applies. We are not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is charged.
- Payment. Taken by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically each month or year until you cancel.
- Cancelling. Cancel any time from the billing link on your results page. Your subscription runs to the end of the period you've paid for, and daily checks continue until then. After that the business returns to our normal weekly checking.
- Refunds. We don't refund part-used periods. If something has genuinely gone wrong — you were charged twice, or the service wasn't working — tell us and we'll put it right.
- Price changes. If we change the price we'll tell you by email at least 30 days beforehand, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
Your private link
A subscription has no username or password. The link we email you is what gets you to your results and your billing. Anyone with that link can see your results and manage your subscription, so keep it to people you trust. If you lose it or think someone else has it, contact us and we'll issue a new one.
Fair use
Please don't scrape the site, run automated requests against it, resell our data, or try to break into parts of it that aren't yours. We may suspend or end access where that happens.
Our data
The measurements, percentages and analysis on this site are ours. You're welcome to use your own results however you like — in your marketing, on your website, in a pitch. You may not republish our data at scale or present it as your own.
If something goes wrong
We provide the service as it is. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for business losses — lost profit, lost custom, lost goodwill — arising from your use of it or from decisions you make on the strength of what it shows. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't lawfully be limited. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Ending it
You can stop using the service at any time, and cancel a subscription as described above. We may end or suspend access if these terms are broken, or if we stop offering the service — in which case we'll refund the unused part of anything you've paid in advance.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects subscribers we'll email you before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when this version was published.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
